Artist Paul Greco Art Exhibition Recent and Unseen Work at the Upstream Gallery
May 24th - June 17th 2012.
Paul Greco has been an artist since early childhood. He attended The School of Visual Arts in Manhattan and has international collectors. This is his fifth one-person exhibition at The Upstream Gallery.
As well as some older work including sculpture, Boxes and an Artist Book Paul will be showing three different "Series" in this solo exhibition.
In the series entitled "Bio-Glyphs" there are six recently finished acrylic on rag paintings that follow the first three canvases. They explore his fascination with biomorphic forms and hieroglyphic writing.
The second series of paintings on rag are based on "The Sumerian Text" (Ancient hieroglyphic symbols) and "The Sumerian Tablets" which were carved scenes depicting the Sumerians origin and history.
The third series is entitled "Space Craft Fragments". These pieces are Paul's own hieroglyphic designs that are painted on found metal and more biomorphic in design. This particular series is based on the now famous and controversial "Roswell Crash" that took place in New Mexico in 1947. Paul originally created fifty one pieces to draw attention to the once Top Secret underground military installation "Area 51".
Paul will also have signed and matted prints for sale.

"Walking in Wiltshire" mixed media construction 44"x 61" 2009.
"Walking In Wistshire" was
inspired by a journey that my girl friend Francine & I took to
investigate one of the most mysterious phenomenon of our time, The
Crop Circles. Our trip to Wiltshire England proved to be even more
interesting and stimulating than we had imagined.
I contemplated this piece for some time before I started it, I wanted
to capture the visual beauty and multi-dimensionality of this special
journey taken in 2008. This acryilc and masonite construction
incorporates aerial photographs of some of the fourteen formations we
visited in that special week as well as actual rock and wheat samples
that I collected and brought back from within the formation.
I addition to the crop circle themselves, I introduce other rounded
and spherical elements in to this construction such as antique blown
glass balls, antique wooden boxes some made by my grandfather, vintage
50's fabric, a wooden column that I synchronistically carved, a
twisted vine, from one of my walks in the Hastings woods and one of my
signature elements I've been using for many years hatched snake Eggs.
